Could the song "Las Fabricas" from Der Klinke become the anthem for strikes and social unrest in the 21st century?
One would expect a very sunny and festive sung when a Belgian band or artist releases a single with a Spanish title. Clearly this is not the case with Las Fabricas from Der Klinke. This is a minimalist energising song about factories being closed.
There is no need for many words to understand the tragedy of the economic crisis that is hitting Europe so hard. Every week, or even every day we hear about divisions or whole factories being closed. Most of the time factories are not being closed because they are stacking up losses, but because they don't make high enough profits. So next time the trade unions are protesting in the streets of Brussels they should play this song. People have enough from Bob Dylan and want protest songs, that they can dance to.
