Bird On The Wire: melancholic psychedelic dreamy indie drone pop

Bird on the Wire is a talented young quartet from the Netherlands who make melancholic indie pop, reminiscent of the Velvet Underground and Nico, mixed together with more modern sounds, resulting in a kind of sultry dreamy drone pop.

Bird on the Wire consist of Rosa Ronsdorf (vocals guitar), Nina de Jong (drums, xylophone, marimba), Sven Hamerpagt (guitar, bass, autoharp and vocals) en Aino Vehmasto (keyboard, sound effects buttons and vocals)
Rosa and Nina can be considered as the founding mothers of Bird on theWire. They met by chance, due to a flat tyre. Rosa got a flat tyre when she was riding her bicycle. Nina stopped to see if she could help. This started a conversation and on that spot prompted the two with the idea to start making music together.

Bird on the Wire are named after the  Leonard Cohen song Bird on the wire. Although Leonard Cohen's music and vocals have been a  big inspiration from the start. Bird on the Wire's musical style gradually changed and developed into the melancholic, psychedelic, dreamy indie drone pop that it is today.

Bird on the wire have been around for a couple of years. In May 2014 the band released the debut album Our hands meet on the moon. The album was recorded in New York. The band members stayed in this american metropolis for a few months.  Surely a lot of influences of New York's indie scene have soaked down and blended into the Dutch alternative pop sound of Bird on the Wire.
