Harajuku Decora Fashion Meetup (Tokyo Fashion)

Decora fashion is a Japanese youth subculture that originated in Harajuku in the late 1990s. All signs are that it peaked in the mid-2000s.

Decora is characterized by brightly colored clothing and accessories. Decora kids collect eye-catching accessories such as hair clips, bracelets, necklaces, stuffed animals and bags and use them to decorate their look. Decora is an example of the kawaii aesthetic in Japanese fashion.

Today's Japanese decora - while not in the numbers they once were - still carry on the tradition of bright colorful clothing and lots of accessories, while adding their own personal touches to the style.

This Harajuku decora meetup was a chance for several of Tokyo's decora to get together and have fun while spending the day wandering around Harajuku together. The day ended with ice cream!
